hostname display on multihomed nodes

Hi,

I have a multihomed node working in two different subnets. each subnet has a different name assigned to the host like it is a Appplication server on subnet 10.0.0.0 and file server for 192.168.1.0. so the same have assigned to reflect the job it performs in that subnet, like in 10 network case it is named apps01srv and 192 network it is named filesrv.

Now the question is when I do telnet from any network the name is always filesrv that is display on login screen because it is the offical name. I want to make the login screen appear with the apropriate name depending upon from where the telnet is established.

Does any have idea how to go about it.
Thanks in advance.

Re: hostname display on multihomed nodes

who -u would give you the IP and script it so that it masks the actual hostname with what you want
