hostname

Suppose, anyone have changed the hostname of a machine ,So is there any file which create logs that who (user) changed hostname?

Shalom,

root.

Thats the only user that can modify the /etc/rc.config.d/netconf file

Therefore the real issue at hand is who used the root password, or perhaps there are more than one user id zero (root) accounts in /etc/passwd

vipw

Check /etc/passwd

Check the sulog, perhaps some regular user did an su - root.

hi,

also check the output of:

last

and compare with the timestamp of the /etc/hosts file...

(assuming nobody changed the files after the change was made.)
