How big of a SE SCSI drive can I install in my d230

I have a d230 unix box running hpux 10.2
right now I have a 4 gig Single ended scsi drive in the box.
Sam - peripheral devices - cards - tells me I have a C720 built in SCSI controller
I would likle to put in a second drive and want to know how larger of a drive the box can handle with that controller ... does anyone know?

We run 9 Gig drives in ours

Seagate ST39173WC

also I am sure the 18 Gig drives would also work.

an HP rep should be able to tell you what can work in the machine

I know that the 9GB's will work and I think the 18's will. I would check with a user HP equipment dealer. You could get a drive for a song and still add it to your service agreement.
If it ain't broke, I can fix that.

Do you think I can get away with a 36 gig?

Let the company selling it to you make the determination. If they are wrong they have to eat it and send you the correct drive. Most 3rd parties are very savvy about what will work.

Hi, I second what Paul says. Tell who you buy your equipment from what you have and let them give you the options. I had a company send me the wrong drive once and they sent me the right one to replace it and other goodies. Point is cover yourself, you don't want to make the wrong determination and have to eat a drive. Let somebody elso assume the risk, that is what they are there for. Hope this helps.

You can install 9Gb SE beaucouse 18 and 36 Gb is SE/UW (68 pin) and you have a controller SE (50 pin).

Well ... I wish I could have someone on the hook guys but ... i am installing this drive myself .. and I am ordering it in myself.
I am going to go with the fujitsu MAJ3182 18.2 gig Its 68 PIN but with an adapter i can make it go 50 PIN and set the jumper so that it is 8 BIT instead of 16 BIT. What I am uncertain of is will the controller support 18 or 32 gig?

Resolved the issue of a disc from attacks your controller pilot also 36 Gb, on condition that this is also SE.
