How can I make a 64 Bit version of HP-UX run only 32Bit.

Hi,

I am trying to install CheckPoint's Firewall-1 under HP-UX 11i and FW1 needs to run under a 32Bit version of HPUX.

During the install, it only gives me the choice of 64BIT TCOE and 64BIT BASE OS
even through the advanced installs.

I am using a C3600 Visualize Workstation with 3 NICs. (yeah, Not a powerhorse but works well enough)

is there a way once the os is installed to downgrade it to 32bit???

Thanks.
Trent.

Hi,

Guess, there is no option to downgrade OS bit's from higer to lower. All i beleive that you have to re-install.

Hi Trent:

If you look in /etc/.supported_bits you will note that the C3600 supports only the 64-bit kernel.

Hi trent
no way u can degrade the OS from 64 bit to 32 bit. now u have 2 options
1.install 32 bit OS in some other system since C3600 wouldn't support 32 bit. and go ahead with FW-1
2.opt for FW-1 which support 64 bit OS
never give up
