how can I see what my network is doing?

Hi I have a verry high laod networkload of one of my systems, there are no aplications running on the system so I do not know what is casing the load.
is there a tool wat i can use do determin what is pomping data to this system(s)

the unix level is 11.23

This traffic is usually 1-2 mbps and reaches 20- 30 mbps peaks. Stopping the ESM service does not reduce peaks, eliminating ESM being the/a root cause of the problem.

I have glace and pv, but can't figer out how to see this...
