How can I test to see if Paging has been set up through Telalert, Cron and System in general???

Hello Everyone,

I have recently inherited a few systems after the previous System Admin has left. I have been asked the following two things:

1) First, apparently there has been Paging capabilities set up using Telalert, Cron, possibly othe system utilities. I have to now some how find out if Paging is set up on these system.

Is there anyway to locate any Paging that has been set up using Telalert or Cron?

2) I am then suppose to test Telalert, Cron and whatever else to see if the system paging works.

Any ideas on how I could go about doing this? I don't have any knowledge of Telalert and not sure how Paging would have been set up in Cron.

Are there command line commands to test if paging functionality exists?

Any help is greatly appreciated...

Thanks

Shaun:

List your cron files (crontab -l) and look for scripts that mail messages or files to the entity that represents your paging "server".

Command line functionality exists with the TelAlert product to test the paging. Sorry, I can't remember what the syntax is but I do know it exists as I had done that many times. To check the cron, set it for 5 min from now to execute the TelAlert command.
