How do You want to access Your boot media without drivers? ;))

use boot vmunix.prev to load the old kernel,
if Your current kernel/drivers is broken.
yesterday I stood at the edge. Today I'm one step ahead.

Do you mean you just want to boot to single user mode?

What exactly is it that you want to do... a bit more detail would help.
