How can upgrade from serviceguard A.11.17 to A.11.19?
Please can someone help me,
I want to make upgrade service guard from A.11.17 to A.11.19 in itanuim servers.
How can I do it?
Can I upgrade directly to latest version or it’s necessary to upgrade to 11.18 and after to 11.19.?
So could you please send me some links explain how can I make this upgrade safely.
Many Thinks.

Re: How can upgrade from serviceguard A.11.17 to A.11.19?
You can upgrade directly from A.11.17 to A.11.19.
1. Verify compatibility between the O/S version and target version of
Serviceguard. A document showing all software compatibility items is located
at:
HA DOCS @ http://docs.hp.com/en/ha.html -> Serviceguard -> Support Matrixes sub-section
2. Up to Serviceguard version A.11.19, it is not necessary to upgrade through
sequential releases in order to get to a target release. The administrator
may upgrade directly from one version of Serviceguard to the target version.
However, when upgrading to versions newer than A.11.19, the admin must
upgrade to A.11.19 before upgrading to a newer version. (See the section
titled "Serviceguard A.11.19 Is the Required Basis for Future Rolling
Upgrades" in the A.11.19 Release Notes at
HA DOCS -> Serviceguard -> Release Notes
3. Upgrading Serviceguard to a version that includes Storage Management Suite
(SMS A.01.00 and newer) can involve restrictions, particularly when upgrading
from one SMS product to another or if a Mission Critical Operating
Environment (MCOE) product bundle is involved. Likewise, upgrading SGeRAC
has its restrictions. In each case, refer to the Release Notes for the
target version of Serviceguard or SMS to understand the limitations.
The SMS Release Notes are located at:
HA DOCS -> HP Serviceguard Storage Management Suite -> Release Notes
The SMS section also has a Compatibility Matrix which reviews upgrade
strategies.
The Release Notes for and Serviceguard Extension for RAC are located
at
HA DOCS -> Serviceguard Extension for Real Application Cluster (ServiceGuard OPS Edition) -> Release Notes
Look for:
"HP Serviceguard Version A.11.19 Release Notes, October 2009 HP-UX 11i v2, 11i v3"
4. The procedure for upgrading Serviceguard is documented in Appendix E
"Rolling Software Upgrades" in the "Managing Serviceguard" manual,
located at:
HA DOCS -> Serviceguard
5. Before upgrading, insure that cmcheckconf completes without error on
the current cluster configuration. To syntax is:
# cmcheckconf -C
If the whereabouts of an accurate cluster configuration file is unknown, it
can be reconstituted using the command: # cmgetconf
6. Updating Serviceguard does not require a reboot, though it requires that
Serviceguard be halted on the node before updating that node. Only one node
may be upgraded at a time.
7. Upgrading Serviceguard requires software media and a license to access the
software. Customers on HP Software Support usually receive update media.
Drill the following website to locate the current update media, and locate
the target version of Serviceguard on that media:
http://www.hp.com/softwarereleases/releases-media2/
-> Software Updates by Platform
-> Current HP-UX update releases
-> (date) HP-UX Media part numbers
-> Application CD or DVD for the appropriate O/S version.
8. A software license-to-use Serviceguard products must be purchased in order
to entitle the admin to receive a codeword which, used with swinstall,
makes the HA product(s) visible on the software media for install on the
server. Use this website to request a replacement codeword:
http://licensing.hp.com
9. There is no time limit to upgrading Serviceguard on all nodes in the
cluster. However when dissimilar versions of Serviceguard exist on nodes
in the cluster, cmapplyconf is disabled, preventing cluster
modification.
10. New servers installed with one version of Serviceguard cannot be added to
a cluster when the current nodes are running a different version of
Serviceguard or when cmapplyconf is disabled by mixed versions on current
nodes.
11. Check for and load the patches relevant to the target version of
Serviceguard and SMS. Use the http://ITRC.HP.COM Software Update Manager
website. Install the Serviceguard patch (currently PHSS_40783 (hpux 11.23) or PHSS_40784 (hpux 11.31))
12. After upgrading, review the Serviceguard command man pages for new
features.
