how create metrocluster?
Hi.
I have two servers.
At servere_1 App 1_1, App 1_2, App 1_3, Oracle 1_4 and db 1_1 and db 1_2
At servere_2 App 2_1, App 2_2, App 2_3, Oracle 2_4 and db 2_1 and db 2_2
I need:
1. We need to create metrocluster of two servers
2. How it all moved to the new drive. I expect to move all applications on one disk, and database to another. On these discs will repletsirovatsya data from the two nodes.
3. Disk array one hp xp
As it should be properly done?
Is there a manual step by step?
Waiting for your recommendations.

Re: how create metrocluster?
The basic Serviceguard allows moving applications between server nodes. The servers may be fault tolerant (redundant fans, power supplies, network connections; error correcting memory; hot-swappable components; UPS). The group of servers may even be disaster tolerant: if the capacity planning is done correctly, the total loss of some nodes does not stop the cluster.
However, in a basic Serviceguard setup, the storage may be fault tolerant (redundant components; RAID; UPS) but is not disaster tolerant: if the shared storage array is lost, the cluster will go down.
The Metrocluster is an extension to Serviceguard, that allows the replication of data to multiple storage systems.
A minimal Metrocluster set-up includes a primary server and storage array at one building, and another server & storage array at another building. Even if the building with the primary hardware is completely destroyed, a copy of all the data is in the other storage system, so the spare server can start running the service immediately.
You have just one array, so there is no point trying to build a Metrocluster configuration: if your array loses power or burns to ash in a fire, your data is gone.
Configuring a cluster requires careful planning and attention to all details. If you try to build a cluster without really understanding what you're doing, it's possible to get a cluster that actually is less reliable than a single stand-alone system.
There is a lot of documentation about Serviceguard and Metrocluster in the HA section of the docs.hp.com website:
http://docs.hp.com/en/ha.html
You should begin by reading "Understanding and Designing Serviceguard disaster tolerant architectures": it is a basic introduction to Serviceguard, MetroCluster and even ContinentalCluster.
http://docs.hp.com/en/T1906-90024/index.html
For actually planning and configuring your cluster configuration, you should read "Managing Serviceguard": it is a very detailed manual that lists all the necessary procedures step by step. Some of the basic procedures with Serviceguard are used unchanged or in an expanded form in Metrocluster too.
http://docs.hp.com/en/B3936-90144/index.html
If you want to extend your set-up to a Metrocluster, you should also read the appropriate Metrocluster documentation:
http://docs.hp.com/en/ha.html#Metrocluster

Re: how create metrocluster?
1. Read the book
2. Install the metrocluster product and properly configure the disk array.
The metrocluster product comes with packages to support XP, EMC, EVA disk arrays.

Re: how create metrocluster?
Hi
I was wondering if you were using dark fibre inbetween the data centers to achieve the kind of speed and through put needed for a metro cluster?
