Re: How do I check how the size of my tapes
hi,
The capacity of a tape device can be read on the tape media itself.
Media management software can allow you to manage them more efficiently. Omniback allow you to query how much space is left on the media and has many other added facilities.
hope this helps too!

Re: How do I check how the size of my tapes
Hi,
There is no exact way to determine the current utilisation of Tape.
Omniback GUI interface can help you but then it is also an approximation.
But all command and also Omniback will prompt you (as you know) when the tape gets filled up..that's it.
Hope that helps.

Re: How do I check how the size of my tapes
Hi,
On tape itself you can find its capacity (without HW compressing). As far as I remember, DAT tapes have the following capacity:
60m tape - native capacity: 1.3 GB - typical capacity with compression: 2.6 GB
90m tape - capacity: 2.0 GB - with compression: 4.0 GB
120m tape - : 4.0 GB - 8.0 GB
125m tape - : 12.0 GB - : 24.0 GB
150m tape - : 20.0 GB - : 40.0 GB
HTH
