How do I know if I am using DCE

Hello gurus,

When I do a swlist, I do see that DCE is installed. However, is there any way that I can tell if DCE is actually being used or not?

The DST requires that PHSS_35467 is installed if you use DCE. I am trying to figure out if I need to install this patch.

This may be a no brainer to some of you, but I just want to make sure.

Thank you for your time,
Andy

Re: How do I know if I am using DCE

Hi Andy,

Is the rpcd daemon running? If it is, then DCE is running. Then it is up to you if you would like to use it or not. If not, you can just turn it off.

Thanks coolmar,

The rpcd daemon is running. What is the rpcd daemon primarily used for?

Andy,

Take a look at /etc/rc.config.d/dce and check the setting of the DCED switch. If it is "DCED=1", then you are running dce.

Re: How do I know if I am using DCE

Thank you Pete,

I have the DCED=0.

Going by this, I assume that it isn't necessary for me to apply the PHSS_35467?

Thanks again,

See rpcd(1m). It says: DCE Host daemon
