How do I swremove a product with a duplicate name

When I run the swlist -l product OMNIBACK-II I get the output as

OMNIBACK-II A.02.55 HP OpenView OmniBack II
OMNIBACK-II A.03.50 HP OpenView OmniBack II

how can I do a swremove on the A.03.50 product?

Re: How do I swremove a product with a duplicate name

Hi,
Give this
#swremove
it will start a menu listing all the software installed. Out of that you can mark OMNIBACK-II A.03.50 HP OpenView OmniBack II and remove

Hi Ravi

you can you the swremove , i will not advise you to remove the omniback 3.6 because the omniback version 2.55 is not supported .

you can also remove this two version and install the new version 4.1 that is much more better .

swremove OMNIBACK-II,r=A.03.50
should do the trick or you can use the menu based swremove by just typing:
swremove

Re: How do I swremove a product with a duplicate name

Hello,

As you can see by the swlist output, they are not actually duplicate products. While they are both HP Openview Omniback, one is for version 2.55 and the other is version 3.5 . If you go swremove as the others indicated, you will also notice that the product numbers are different. Just select the one you want to remove and actions --> remove; the swremove will take care of the rest. But, be warned, just as Eran pointed out, you are talking about removing a supported product instead of the one that isn't. You might want to consider if that is want you want.

Chris

Re: How do I swremove a product with a duplicate name

I'm not familiar with OmniBack, so this might just be me being paranoid, but is it possible that the removal of either one of the versions will "clean" a file common to both?

Just as an example of what I'd be concerned about, say the first installation puts a line in the /etc/services file to define a tcp port. The second installation may not put that same line in because it already exists. That line might be taken out during the uninstall.

Be careful. Be prepared to re-install.

The best way is to swremove both, then swinstall the one you want. That way you don't have to worry about common files, entires etc.
