How do transfer software from old machine?

I want to transfer my hp fortran license from a c series hpux 10.2 to a new hp work station.
The older box was on support but not now.The license has been long lost due to changing staf.Is there a way to do this or upgrade for the new work station?

If its an hp depot product that is codeword protected, you can transfer the .codewords file to the new workstation and then reinstall the fortan product with .swinstall.

If its a third party product, you may be able to copy the binaries. Most of them won't work though without a full install and configuration.

Re: How do transfer software from old machine?

Hi,

If this is an hp product and if the system is under hp support, hp will allow you to transfer the license as long as the server is in the same tier. HP categorises the servers in different tiers, i think mid-range, low-range etc are the tiers.

If this is a hp software and is not covered by a hp support agreement, you may have to either pay for the period when it was out of support or buy a new copy of the softwere.

If this is a third party product and you have the installation media you can migrate it to the new server. The licensing if any would be governed by the third party vendor.

you may need new binaries for the software since the software version / binary may be too old for this new version of OS.

Hope this helps.
