How is MTS and Asynchronous I/O on HP-UX 10.20 ?

Can anybody tell me whether Oracle parameters of MTS and Asynchronous I/O can be implemented on HP-UX 10.20 on K250 with three processors?
I doubt this because fisrtly, Kernel thread is a new feature on HP-UX 11 with multiple processors. Secondly, our Oracle data is residing on file systems (HFS) rather than raw device which is required by Asynchronous I/O specifically for HP-UX. Although Solaris can accomodate Asynchronous I/O for both file systems and raw devices, but HP-UX is an exception. I don't know why and I would also like to know how can I implement raw device on HP-UX 10.20 to house our Oracle data.

Any inputs will be appreciated.

configure MTS by
To set up your system in a multi-threaded server configuration, start a network
listener process and set the MTS_DISPATCHERS parameter (which is a required
parameter that sets the initial number of dispatchers).
more information see in Oracle 8i Admin guide

and to using raw device in hp-ux is just not using LVM , ( I don't think it will be good)

Hi there.
printaporn is right with the MTS.
For my opinion keep your hands off the raw devices. They give more trouble than they are worth. If you are moving real large amounts of data in and out of your database, you should think about the online logs on raw devices.
But be very careful. Backup of these devices is also very tricky.
