I have installed measureware client software on all the systems, and I am viewing the graphs from one of the system where Perfview is installed. I am wondring
1. Where all these performance data will be stored ( on the clinet OR on the system where perfview in sinstalled)
2. How long this data will be kept ? Is it until the disk space gets full OR any specific period like 1 month or some thing else ?
3. Is there a way to archive these data and keep it in some separate file system and use it in the future for performance evaluation.
Thanks in advance

Solution
MeasureWare stores data on the local client machine in /var/opt/perf. PerfView transfers the required data while you are using it. There is a perf file created when MeasureWare is installed (in var/opt/perf). The data is broken down into several different areas (device, process, application, and global). Data is rolled out of these data areas based on the size declaration in the parm file. Growth is dependent on the variety of performance metrics that you choose to collect, the activity of the system, and the amount of devices present (again controlled by the parm file). To put it plainly, I can't define it any better than the User Manual (B4967-90023). Look at the scope data collector section and the parm file chapters in particular. There is a thorough discussion of archiving there. If you don't have the manual, it's available online at http:/docs.hp.com

Re: How long measureware data will be kept
Sorry about my terminology error. It's not the 'perf' file but rather the 'parm' file. I've god my pppp's a bit mixed.

Re: How long measureware data will be kept
MeasureWare data is stored in several log files in /var/opt/perf/datafiles (on hpux). The files are:
logappl
logdev
logglob
logindx
logproc
logtan
As mentioned above the allow size of the log files is configured in the /var/opt/perf/parm file. The raw log file size is checked each day at the mainttime (also defined in the parm file) and if it exceeds the parm file limit, the file is rolled back to 75% of the limit. You can configure the parm file to trim the files at whatever size you desire, but note that they will automatically roll out any data in excess of 365 days (a new feature in the current versions). If you need to save historical data, I would recommend extracting the data periodicly and archiving the extract files. You can put the extract files on your perfview system and add them as a local data source in perfview. NOTE: The latest version of MeasureWare has increased the maximum allowable size of an extract file from 64Mb to about 3.5Gb. Also the current versions are now including the manuals in pdf format under the paperdocs directory. (/opt/perf/paperdocs/mwa/C/mwausers.pdf for example)
