how to activate GiGEther-01 (sep2004) in the kernel
¿ How do I activate a newly installed igelan driver under 11.23 ?
I have a integrity 11.23 system.
yesterday installed goldpatch september 2004. this included the GigEther-01 driver.
My question is:
# what /stand/vmunix |grep gelan reports the OLD driver
[atlas|root]>> what /stand/vmunix |grep igelan
igelan_ilan Version: 2 Dec 17 2003
igelan Revision: B.11.23.03 Dec 17 2003
kdebug_lan_igelan.c $Date: 2004/08/05 12:08:11 $Revision: i380/3 PATCH_
11.23 (PHKL_31500)
and swlist reports the presence of the new driver:
[atlas|root]>>
GigEther-00 B.11.23.01 PCI GigEther;Supptd HW=A4926A/A49
29A/A6096A;SW=J1642AA
GigEther-01 B.11.23.03 PCI GigEther;Supptd HW=A6825A/A67
but although the installation recompiled the kernel and rebooted the system, it is not showing the september 2004 igelan driver in the kernel.
now, I can see the module from ioscan,
[atlas|root]>> ioscan -funC lan |grep 1000
lan 1 0/0/2/1/0 igelan CLAIMED INTERFACE HP A6825-60101 PC
I 1000Base-T Adapter
lan 6 0/0/10/1/0 igelan CLAIMED INTERFACE HP A6825-60101 PC
How can I activate the september 2004 igelan driver ?
begards
Rodrigo

Re: how to activate GiGEther-01 (sep2004) in the kernel
Hi Rodrigo,
sept 2004 is the date of the OS release as bundle, not the date for all components. The igelan (GigEther-01 has revision B.11.23.03) and is linked to the kernel (igelan Revision: B.11.23.03 Dec 17 2003 - date of main part of code). You may be sure you have latest igelan driver in the kernel.
Regards,
Zygmunt

swinstall the igelan driver on the September 2004 CD. It should install and overwrite the previous one. This will build a new kernel and require a boot.

Re: how to activate GiGEther-01 (sep2004) in the kernel
You've installed probably the September 11.23 patch bundle only. The patch bundle does not include new drivers. Current igelan driver is B.11.23.05. You can install it from September 2004 HP-UX 11i v2 (11.23) OE media. Mount the DVD disk in /cdrom directory and run the command:
swinstall -s /cdrom -x autoreboot=true GigEther-01
