Re: how to activate vg

check your /etc/lvmtab using strings /etc/lvmtab.

It could be that you moved this volume from another system?
Dit you import it correct with the correct device files (check this with ioscan -fnCdisk).

When importing the VG you need to edit the device import file with the correct entries.

If it's a corrupted lvmtab, try to recreate it by moving /etc/lvmtab /etc/lvmtab.OLD and then run a vgscan.(check man vgscan)

Re: how to activate vg

do an ioscan -fnC disk to see whether the /dev/dsk/c6t0d0 is shown and see that the device is shown CLAIMED.

with best wishes.

Re: how to activate vg

Just do a
#ioscan -fnC disk

check whether the disk is in working state.

If the disk is present,
#diskinfo

If the disk is not there,
#mv /etc/lvmtab /etc/lvmtab.old
#vgscan -v

Re: how to activate vg

If the disk is bad. and the data is a mirrored Volume group. You might be able to activate the volume group with out quorum
vgchange -a e -q n ny_vg1. You would then might beable to mount logical volumes and move data.
