how to boot into single user mode in itanium/ia64

need help badly...
my system got corrupted and i am trying to recover...
i know there is no way i can boot fro tape..
but how can i boot into single user mode?
i have hpux 11.23 o/s.

I don't now if ots the same for Itanium? But can't you boot from ISL and then do: hpux -is
?

i think its different for hpux and ia64

The document Gideon posted, came from the section HP-UX 11i v2 (v2 is the version for IA64)

Also, if you look in the publication history, you see that it is an updated document for itanium's version of 11i... So if it doesn't work, HP should review the document again.

Hi,

Interrupt the boot as normal. Then run:
"boot vmunix -is"
