how to change heart beat IP address

HP 9000 server,HP-UX 11i. I want to change heart beat IP address on lan0,but i do not know how to change it.Anybody knows,please tell me.

Hi

Follow following steps:

1. Halt the cluster
2. Change IP of heartbeat LAN by SAM or editing /etc/rc.config.d/netconf file
3. Move existing cluster configuration ascii file and recreate it with cmquerycl -v -C option
4. Reapply this config file with cmapplyconf with -k -v -C options and start cluster

..since the above steps are not rebooting the box, you will need to unplumb your heartbeat lan and reconfigure it.

ifconfig lanx unplumb
ifconfig lanx x.x.x.x netmask 255.255.255.0 up

You can do this after step 1.

I always just backup the cluster config file by copying it to filename.conf.save. Then edit the file and change the lines for your cluster nodes that say:

NETWORK_INTERFACE lan0
HEARTBEAT_IP 192.168.2.1
NETWORK_INTERFACE lan2
HEARTBEAT_IP 172.28.60.21

and put in the new IP address. You will have to reconfigure the lanX that you're changing before you can verify the cluster configuration using:

# ifconfig lanX inet xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx \
subnet xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx \
netmask xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx up

Then you can run:

# cmcheckconf -v -C cluster_ascii_file \
-P pkg_ascii_file

Then run:

# cmapplyconf -v -C cluster_ascii_file \
-P pkg_ascii_file

Definitely verify if the new IP address is in the same subnet and is reachable from the other node.

Steps would be
1. Halt the cluster cmhaltcl
2. Identify the interface that you plan to change the IP address using lanscan and netstat -in
3. Make changes using either SAM or commandline. SAM would be easier (Since you don't have to vi the /etc/rc.init.d/netconf file and then restart the /sbin/init.d/net )

4. Make changes to the cluster file
in the /etc/cmcluster/{clustername}
5.Check if the file is okay
cmcheckconf -k -v -C /etc/cmcluster/{clustername}
6.Apply the file
cmapplyconf -k -v -C /etc/cmcluster/{clustername}

I am not sure if you are planning to change the IP associated with a package within this cluster.
If yes, you might have to go into the package file and make the IP address changes and rcp the file over to the other node/s

Bring up the Cluster and that is it!!
