Edit or create /etc/motd with the text that you desire.

Re: How to change login information?

Hi,

There are two places where you would see it.

1. Console. Create /etc/issue with your banner and it will take care of the console.

2. Telnet session. Add -b /etc/issue to the telnet line in /etc/inetd.conf and refresh inetd.

telnet stream tcp nowait root /usr/lbin/telnetd telnetd -b /etc/issue

inetd -c

-Sri

Re: How to change login information?

Take out this part of /etc/issue

HP-UX systemname B.11.00 U 9000/800 (tc)

There is no need to tell hackers or unauthorized users what kind of server they are trying to crack. Make them work a little harder.

SEP

btw changing /etc/issue and the telnet daemon will do the job.
