Re: how to check scsi disk if system wont boot

You can boot from the OS installation CD (from boot prompt), run a recovery shell and check the disks with Offline Diagnostic tools.

To list all SCSI disks, tapes and CD/DVD drives at boot prompt, use "search" command.

Hi,
Have you tried booting in LVM maintenance mode?
at ISL >hpux -lm

All the best
Victor

P.S. What system is it?

Re: how to check scsi disk if system wont boot

There is only one reason, if a system can boot: everything is OK.

But there are many reasons if it won't boot.

What model of server you are using?
Try if the system can find the disk:

from Boot Console: SEA IPL

if the result matches the primary bootpath, your disk is found. Boot the disk and interrupt the oot process. Boot to single user mode

ISL>hpux -is

Can you do this?

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

If you can bring the system to ISL>
ISL > ode OR ISL> run mapper
Try "ode" or "run mapper". If your system admin has loaded diag, it will help you in times like this.

All the best !

what server model you are using?

It is always a good idea to be on a current firmware level.

Hope this helps!
