how to configure mail in hpux. my mail didn't work.

my mail didn't work.
kedidi:/var/mail>/sbin/init.d/sendmail start
/sbin/init.d/sendmail[115]: START+^H_SNAINETD=0: not found.
Sendmail has already been started

when i try to send mail:
mailx finas@sogo.com.my
subject: test
the mail didn't go.
ihave editted the /etc/hosts accordingly.

If the syslog configuration has not been changed from HP-UX defaults, /var/adm/syslog/mail.log should have several lines detailing what happened to your mail.

Sendmail really needs a working DNS system. It wants to check for DNS "mail exchanger" or MX records, which have no equivalent in /etc/hosts.

It looks like you have some bad chars in your config file?
There is "+^H" that shouldn't be there.

I don't see anything like *SNA* in my /etc/rc.config.d/mailservs.

On 11.31, line 115 is . /etc/rc.config. So you must have a garbage file in /etc/rc.config.d?
