How to configure ssh for veritas cluster Installation

Does anybody has steps that need to be followed for successfully installing VCS.
( so that it does not ask for passwd while installing )

For configuring ssh authentication w/o password.

for root user

On source Server

1)cd ~root/.ssh

2)ssh-keygen -t rsa -b 1024

Press enter (default) for all questions.

this will generate id_rsa and id_rsa.pub files .

3)append the id_rsa.pub contents to ~root/.ssh/authorized_keys file on remote host .(use ecp tp copy the file to remote server /or ftp it in bin mode)

4)test the ssh connectivity by

ssh target-server -n "ls -al"

This will prompt for confirmation for adding the host info in known_hosts , enter yes .

again test the above command , this time ls -al o/p of target server will be displayed w/o asking for the root password .

5)Once tested you can get rid of .rhosts file authentications set.

/.ssh/authorized_keys (provided / is the home for root,verify this in /etc/passwd file).
