How to copy Unix cd on Windows or Mac machine

I want to copy some HPUX CDs and some third-party HPUX cds for backup. How can I copy these cds on a Windows PC or a Mac. I have Nero(PC) and Dragon Burn (Mac). Any idea?

Re: How to copy Unix cd on Windows or Mac machine

Hi,

If you want to make a duplicate, just burn the cd as duplicate the original. It doesn't matter if the cd is hp ux or any other platform. Duplication will take care of that. Nero should be fine if you want to duplicate.

Hope this helps.

Just do an Image copy, disk to disk type. I don't use Nero, but I'm sure it has this option.

What if I transfered the unix cd data to a pc. How would I burn it then. Also, my issue in the past is that the my PC would not recognize the CD. Sorry but I a newbie at this.

Hi Gregory,

You don't transfer the data from cd to pc and then copy to another cd. within the cd writing software you get an option to duplicate / copy cd. Use that option to duplicate cd's. It doesn't matter in what format the original is written, it is duplicated to another cd. This is handled by the program (like nero) itself. Look at the documentation / help that is available with the cd burner software.

Hope this helps.

the PC will recognice the CD whether it is HPOUX or whatever as they are using some ISOblabla bla format.

But dumping it to PC and then burning would'nt work !. Better make a duplicate

Re: How to copy Unix cd on Windows or Mac machine

you should have no issues coping the files to PC and burning them to a new cd, however DO NOT expect to be bootable from your unix box, and ENSURE you use ISO standard (i.e. not JOLIET).
There have been Innumerable people who have helped me. Of course, I've managed to piss most of them off.
