How to create ftp access in non-nis unix machine

Hello Champions,

I want to access ftp from one HP-UNIX Machine, which is not connected in NIS
The history of machine is given below,
HP-UX hpcvl072 B.10.20 A 9000/735 2003493895 two-user license

I created ftp named user in /etc/passwd and created ftp named directory in /home
Ownership of ftp : root:sys
Permission : 755

I created pub, dist, etc as ownership of ftp : other under /home/ftp.
But i am unable list or dir when i try to ftp.

Give me solution..

Hi,

you need the "ls" command from /sbin/ls in your ftp-directory. It's tricky to set the right rights. So use SAM to set-up Anonymous FTP.

If you wan't to offer FTP-Service for the outside world don't use the HP-ftpd. Think about wu-ftpd.
