How to find info on HSC I/O expansion cards

I have a number of systems on remote customer sites that have HSC expansion cards. Some of these cards are 4 slot, some are 2 slot. Not all of the 4 slot cards will be full of cards. I need a way to tell which machines have 4 slot cards and which 2. I've tried ioscan but it only seems to tell me about slots that contain cards.

Does anyone have any ideas??

Hi,
Have you tried stm or under X xstm, if it is not installed you will find the latest (..) version on the las support-plus CD (sept2000?)
its the diagnostics bundle

Hope this helps

Good luck

I don't think that STM or XSTM will show free slots.
Haven't found away yet, but will try to let you know a.s.ap.

You can get the STM from this site: http://www.software.hp.com/cgi-bin/swdepot_parser.cgi/cgi/displayProductInfo.pl?productNumber=B6191AAE

When you use STM, it shows the slots.

Re: How to find info on HSC I/O expansion cards

I've tried using stm to find the info that I need. It appears to give info on what slot on the system card contains the the HSC.

What I can't find is which slots on the HSC itself have cards in. It maybe that I'm missing the obvious, if that is the case then please enlighten me, but as things seem at the minute stm appears not to be the solution.

Re: How to find info on HSC I/O expansion cards

If the systems are HP9000 "K" series I think that you can assume that any entries for "GSC add-on Fast/Wide SCSI Interface" from an IOSCAN will be HP-HSC Cards.

Different K' Series implementations have limits on the maximum number of HP-HSC slots ranging from 1 to 9. Ie a K450 can take a maximum of 5 cards - 1 Internal and 4 in the expansion slot but a K370 is limited to a maximum of 3 because it can only take the two slot expansion. Therefore if you can find out the machine models you could cross reference this with the HP9000 Configuration guide to see what you could have and use the ioscan to identify what you do have ?

i am far from certain, but you might look for entries of type "bc" for Bus Converter. i cannot recall if those will be for the slots or for the U2/UTurn chip that will drive them.

Re: How to find info on HSC I/O expansion cards

Ian,
The HSC extension I/O card is suppose to be 'transparent' to the system. Therefor you are not able to see it with any diagnostic? No way
