How to find the no HBAs on HPUX 11.31 system
I need help on HBA. How do I find the number of HBAs avaialble on the system??? "sar -H" wont be of much help as it lists only the sctive HBAs not all of the available. I can get that info from Glance but I dont want to use that. I need some system command to get all HBAs.
Thanks in Advance

Re: How to find the no HBAs on HPUX 11.31 system
For fibre channel:
ioscan -funC fc
will show you all HBA ports you have (some may be on the same physical card for dual-port FC cards)

Re: How to find the no HBAs on HPUX 11.31 system
#ioscan -fnC fc
to get the device name of the HBA
then
#fcmsutil
To check the status of the HBA online or offline

Re: How to find the no HBAs on HPUX 11.31 system
What actually are you trying to achieve? What do you need to see?
If you see nothing from "ioscan -funC fc", that simply tells us you have no fibre channel cards in your system.
As I pointed out, the scsimgr command should show you what you need - if you want to format it a bit, how about:
scsimgr get_info all_ctlr | grep "/dev" | cut -d: -f 2
will list them.

Re: How to find the no HBAs on HPUX 11.31 system
glance started, u pressed will list disk devices, not hba, right?
(I currently don't have a 11iv3 system to play with)
Would you try again to explain what you really want to get?
How about this:
fc hba devices:
# ioscan -fnCfc
scsi hba devices
# ioscan -fndmpt
Depending on the server model you can also try
# olrad -q
In each occupied powered slot (pwr=on; occu=yes) is an i/o card ...
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: How to find the no HBAs on HPUX 11.31 system
That's upper case U. On 11.31 that shows per HBA stats (see attached screen scrape)
Not sure why it shows a bunch of disks which don't even exist on my system and a pass-thru device - nevertheless, the top 3 entries show the HBAs on my system - 2 SCSI controllers and a FC HBA

Re: How to find the no HBAs on HPUX 11.31 system
I assumed something like this, because "sar -H" seems to be similar according to the man page. I can't find a man page for glance, the search engine only finds "... new at a glance" ... ;-(
Anyway, the output looks some strange.
c2t0d0 is type HBA? Hmm ...
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
