How to get out of ISL/IPL menu?

I was trying to boot an HP 9000 PA-RISC system, but when prompted for "Interact with IPL?", I mistakenly said "yes".

How do I get out of the ISL> menu?

If I type "exit" or "quit", I get

"Not an isl command or utility."

(My solution was to use the Management Processor "RS" option to reset the system - but I guess there's a quicker/easier way?)

Just tell it to continue booting by entering "hpux", which is the secondary system loader. It will proceed to load the kernel.

Hi,

ISL> hpux

will boot to multiuser level.

Thanks for the replies. But what if I don't have HP-UX installed? (I want to install from an Ignite server).

Then your RS approach is probably the only viable way out.

I should add that you can do "ls" to see what commands/utilities are available to you. Typically, the only ones are "hpux", the secondary system loader, and ODE, a diagnotic that the Customer Engineer uses.

I would have run the command...."help". And yes. It's a guess. But I would expect the IPL to have some menu-ish information.
