how to get serial/part number of NIC

Hi all,

I have RP8400 (PA-RISC) server with just 2 GIG-E NIC (1000Base-T) card. I need to have 1 more to put this system into production.

I have SUPERDOME (PA-RISC) server as a source.

My problem is, i have to check this first if this is compatible to RP8400.

How can i check the serial / part number of NIC installed on this SUPERDOME?

How can i check if its compatible.

Thanks!

Re: how to get serial/part number of NIC

the information you can get are the path and the Mac address of the card with lanscan (write down the nmid or ppa num ).
Then using choose the ppa in landiag or lanadmin and do a display.
As rp8400 and superdome PA-RISC are the based on a similar technology, PCI card should be compatible.
You may search using the part number search (enter the part number or the procuct number of the card) on partsurfer and see in whitch system the card goes.
