How to give premission to dir to hold particular size?

Hi All,

I got some requirement like:

1) How to check that particular dir say xyz max size it can accomodate?
2) How to create dir with permission that can allow upto 200 MB data?

Can some one assist me in this?

Thanks

I'm not sure you can limit the size.
You can establish quotas on file systems and users but probably not at a directory level.

agree with Dannis,i do not think there is any directory quita.
If you have to make 1-2 directories like this, then you can create separate filesystem of specific size.

Hi Kapil,

You are write actually filer in my m/c shows 100% filled.

Is it possible to allocate the 200 MB space to this filer. If yes then what are the steps i needs to follow ar any other dependencies? I am having root access.

Thank's

Re: How to give premission to dir to hold particular size?

First you will have to tell me whether its is a separate file system???
If you have free space available to allocate to this filesystem.
Anyways you can increase filesystem(if space is available)
FOR WITHOUT ONLINE JFS
umount /file_system
extendfs
mount /file_system
bdf /file_system

WITH ONLINE JFS
fsadm

What do you mean by filer???

Hope this help
