Re: how to indentify the diffrent special device name that may belong to the same disk
Other tools like evainfo or xpinfo do the same, but are product specific.
Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: how to indentify the diffrent special device name that may belong to the same disk
What if I have let's say 2 different arrays in my SAN and present a LUN7 from each to the same server?
Don't make assumptions here in this context.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

SolutionThe hardware path will show a better picture (ioscan -fn).
But better use SAM or the other specific tools.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: how to indentify the diffrent special device name that may belong to the same disk
# evainfo -W
Lun WWN: 6005-08B4-1234-66FC-0009-E000-0077-0000
/dev/rdsk/c1t1d4
/dev/rdsk/c3t1d4
/dev/rdsk/c17t1d4
/dev/rdsk/c19t1d4
ioscan:
disk 9 0/4/1/0.7.1.0.0.1.4 sdisk CLAIMED DEVICE HP HSV200
/dev/dsk/c1t1d4 /dev/rdsk/c1t1d4
disk 8 0/4/1/0.7.5.0.0.1.4 sdisk CLAIMED DEVICE HP HSV200
/dev/dsk/c3t1d4 /dev/rdsk/c3t1d4
disk 7 0/4/1/1.7.1.0.0.1.4 sdisk CLAIMED DEVICE HP HSV200
/dev/dsk/c17t1d4 /dev/rdsk/c17t1d4
disk 6 0/4/1/1.7.5.0.0.1.4 sdisk CLAIMED DEVICE HP HSV200
/dev/dsk/c19t1d4 /dev/rdsk/c19t1d4
From hardware path you can see the connections are over the same switch (domain ID), different ports, same LUN number.
The evainfo output is much better.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: how to indentify the diffrent special device name that may belong to the same disk
ioscan -fnC disk as below,
pls help me check if c2t0d1 and c0t0d1 are the same disk, if yes ,why ?
and you explains "From hardware path you can see the connections are over the same switch (domain ID), different ports, same LUN number", and if you can provide some details regarding path component, thanks!

0/0/6/1/0 is the path to the FC adapter
1 is the switch domain ID
1 or 2 is the port, where EVA is connected
0.0.1 is LUN 1
So you see here LUN 1 via 4 different paths.
Try evainfo (from web)!
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
