Re: how to install an epson lq printer
More than likely - you will need some sort of driver from Epson...

Re: how to install an epson lq printer
WHat's the actual model of the printer and is the network card built in? or external?

Re: how to install an epson lq printer
Says you may have trouble (I have never seen it) and I usually choose the lowest HP print driver available, HPIII
If you have the Epson print driver, use it instead.

Re: how to install an epson lq printer
Instead, you add it as a remote printer (just like all other non-HP printers with a non-HP LAN card. You have read the LAN card's documentation or contact Epson to see what the name of the printer is within the LAN card. These LAN cards are acting as a print server, much like a PC sharing printers. Just like the PC, you need to know the name of the printer. These cards implement RFC 1179 lpr protocol and SAM will ask you for 3 items: local queuename, remote server (the LAN card's IP address) and the internal printer name. This name might be prn or text or raw or lpt or something similar. Also be sure to check the BSD box since the protocol is likely BSD-based which means 3 digit print jobs.
