Re: How to install an old SCSI card to HP-UX?

Hi

Do you have the correct drivers installed for the device

try

insf -e

then

ioscan -fn

Bill Hassell supplied the following regarding
installation of new hardware

Whenever you install new hardware, always run ioscan to see if there are drivers to support the card or device:

# ioscan -f

If there is no driver, you'll need to go to your Core/Install CD and run swinstall to pull off the Fibre/Tachyon driver package. This will require a system reboot, and as it comes up, insf will discover the new card(s) and connect them to the drivers and kernel. Now ioscan should show the devices:

# ioscan -fn

The -fn option shows all the device files. But once the system has seen the cards and drivers, you can improve the speed of ioscan about 50:1 by using -k:

# ioscan -knf

Or look at a specific hardware path:

# ioscan -knfH 0/1/2.0.3

and so on. Now you can start using the cards and device files.
