how to install hpux 11i visa console termial?

a host: b2000,i want to install hpux 11i to it.but when i use console line

link to it from serial port 1,
after i use :boot p0(to boot from install cd)
it did not stop at " hp unix
hp unix install
recovery
advanced install "

menu,

but after flash that menu ,then directly go to the recovery shell,
and begin the recovery main menu.

i want to know why ? and how can i handle that?

Hi

I am not clear what your console is but I am sure that it does not have all the features of a true VT100 or ANSI terminal.


A badly defined emulation has been known to do this

It's recommended by HP that you use a dumb terminal as the serial console. If not possible and you use a PC/Laptop as console, then install an emulator that is more compatible to VT100 and ANSI.

Had the same problem on a D-360. I found that after I entered the keyboard it scaned then asked me to setup network. I selected yes and just tabbed though the options on the network setup and went to [Cancel] that took me back to the original screen where you can select Install HPUX Run a recovery shell etc. The one that you wanted to see in the first place.

Had this problem before when using Hyper Terminal. Now I am using SecureCRT, it is so good and will have this problem again.

you need to set the terminal in the hardware configuration to EM100.

Then the 11i install will work right.

Assuming this is a serial console from HP.
