How to monitor Blade(BL870C) h/w fault event

Hi

11.31 and BL870C

As I know H/W Fault event message in blade logs in OA log like power fail, etc.
Customer want to monitor this events from remote system but they want to not use snmp protocol. Is there another ways?

My idea:

OA log's content is not in syslog.log,so Can we log from OA log to syslog.log?

another idea is to use CIMUtil command. Is it possible?

or SFM.log include blade's h/w fault event?
if so, we can solve to read sfm.log.

Any ideas?

Well the typical way to fo is to use Systems Insight Manager (SIM):

Which can be installed on any Windows Server, or HP-UX or Linux server.

Once SIM is installed, you can "discover" your blade enclosure and blades, and then hardware events will show up in SIM, and you can drill down to the specific enclosure/blade where this occurred.

SIM is a fairly complex topic, so I suggest you take some time to read the documentation here:

I agree, HPSIM would be the ideal solution here, together with Insight RSA.

Maybe the "smaller" solution (Insight RSS) is an alternative.

BTW, the transport is WBEM here, not SNMP.




The blade itself does not about a fan or PSU failure at all, only the OA does. So you need to include the blade server itself, the iLO and the OA into HPSIM.

Just to complete this:

You should include all your servers (blades), iLOs, OAs, Interconnects, switches, disk arrays, etc ... into HPSIM, so you have the complete picture. You will be alerted if anything went bad, IRSA will automatically open a support case at HP and they will get in contact with you. Up to this point you don't need to do anything ...
