mknod /dev/vgold/group c 64 0x070000
ioscan -fnCdisk
vgimport /dev/vgold /dev/rdsk/XXXX,

Re: How to mount old disk vg on newly installed system
Hello RajeevKumar,
You have to import the old disk group to system.
1.mkdir /dev/vgold (or any name)
2.mknod /dev/vgold/group c 64 0x0X0000
(check the last minor number used in you system using "ls -l /dev/*/group" command and put the next number in place of 0x0X000)
3.vgimport /dev/vgold /dev/dsk/cXtXdX
(cXtXdX is the Old disk device name which you are going to import.Put all the disk names f you have more disks in same Volume Group)
4.Vgchange -a y vgold
5.do "strings /etc/lvmtab" to verify vg config.
6.ls -l /dev/vgold
this will show you the device file names for each LVs
7.Mount each LV using mount command

Re: How to mount old disk vg on newly installed system
The upper Sajeer's comments is correct.
Just follow his procedure.
You may confuse if you configured old vg with specific lvol name because sajeer's procedure was just recommanding you don't care the exact lvol name.
For example, oldvg had three lvols, like this
/dev/oldvg/data1, data2, data3
If you followed the procedure
vgimport oldvg /dev/dsk/cXtYdZ
you will see lvol1, lvol2, lovl3
in this case, you just need to mount those lvols and restore data you wanted.
What a great consideration he did
he conjuctured you didn't have the oldvgs's map files.
Regards
nanan
