How to preserve time and ownership when backing up files
Hi,
How can I backup files to tape and at the same time preserving their timestamp and ownership. I am using "tar" is there any option available?

You should start with man tar.

tar will preserve timestamp and ownership of files. You can use any backup tool for that purpose.
fbackup,dump,vxdump or netbackup etc
all backup tools preserve time stamp
