Re: How to Properly Fix: VG entry in lvmtab but VG Directory is Absent
1. mv /etc/lvmtab /etc/lvmtab.old
2. vgscan -a
I think that should straitghten it out.

Re: How to Properly Fix: VG entry in lvmtab but VG Directory is Absent
If you do:
...you might try recreating it and then doing a vgimport of the mapfile...
Just a thought,
Rita

Re: How to Properly Fix: VG entry in lvmtab but VG Directory is Absent
Either vgscan as above, or recreate the vg.
mkdir /dev/master
mknod /dev/master/group c 64 0x480000
vgcreate -s 8 -p 255 /dev/master
then vgexport it:
vgexport /dev/master
That will also remove it from lvmtab.

Re: How to Properly Fix: VG entry in lvmtab but VG Directory is Absent
First, recreate the directory and group files.
mkdir /dev/master
mknod /dev/master/group c64 0xNN0000 (NN needs to be a unique minor number)
vgimport -s -m mapfile (if present) /dev/master

Re: How to Properly Fix: VG entry in lvmtab but VG Directory is Absent
I am still trying to find out if the VG is supposed to be still on this system. When I de-present one of the component disks from the system as listed in lvmtab (using SecurePath).. it won't allow me saying the LUN is busy...
This environment uses EVA BusinessCopy -- which have been plagued with a variety of problems.
Hopefully all these problems will go away once we switch to VxVM as our volume manager on our EVA 5K LUNs..
