How to quickly recover from system crash 'Bad LIF Magic'
I lost power to an L 2000 system. The result is that the system can't reboot.
What is the cleanest way to recover/repair the corrupt disk?

Re: How to quickly recover from system crash 'Bad LIF Magic'
just make sure that the system does not have another bootable path, such as a mirror disk,
use SEA at the BCH to look for potential bootable devices.
If you're not using mirrordisk, then you'll have to boot from the support media interact with the menu to recover the lif... horrible that that got corrupted it's got the kernel loader hpux on it so you can't bootinto maintenance.
An ignite tape also has the possibility to rescue the lif I believe although I'd recomment the support media to recreate it.
Good luck,
Bill

Re: How to quickly recover from system crash 'Bad LIF Magic'
It depends on which disk is corrupt. If you are talking about your boot disk, then there are a couple of things to try.
1) See if you can boot into single-user mode. You could then do fsck and other repairs.
2) Maybe LVM maintenance mode, although I don't know what all you could accomplish from there.
3) Boot off of a the diagnoistcs/recovery CD.
If the disk is just totally trashed and unrecoverable, the easiest thing, if you have done one, is to boot from a make_recovery tape and let it rebuild your vg00. This is exactly the reason to do a regular make_recovery of your system.
