Re: How to remove corrupted & unconfigured S/w.
first i want to clear the issue of the patch :
PHKL_18543 .
i think that this is one of the most impotent patches in hp-ux 11.00 and every kernel patch that will be install on the system will be depent on this patch .
the correct way to fix a corupt patch is just to reinstall it ,
so i will get list of patches that is in state of corupt .
another issue , also patches that is in state of install isnt in there correct way , that mean that you install them but the system didnt config them and i will advise to try to run swconfig \* to see if it will help with this issue but from my exper. you will need also to install them again .
so from you list of patches i will advise you to install :
PHCO_16489 - s700_800 11.00 S-Chinese zh_CN.utf8 locale src and binary
PHCO_16490 - s700_800 11.00 T-Chinese zh_TW.utf8 locale src and binary
PHCO_16491 - s700_800 11.00 Hong Kong zh_HK.utf8 locale src and binary
PHCO_16492 - s700_800 11.00 Japanese ja_JP.utf8 locale src and binary
PHCO_16493 - s700_800 11.00 Korean ko_KR.utf8 locale src and binary
with the option reinstall but only if you need to install this patches ( if you need this issue with chinese )
if you dont need them just swremove them .
PHCO_17316 - s700_800 11.00 ISO8859-15 locales src, binary
PHCO_18124 - s700_800 11.00 French fr_CA, fr_FR.utf8 locale src, binary
PHCO_18125 s700_800 11.00 GERMAN fr_CA, fr_FR.utf8 locale src, binary
PHCO_18126 - Italian it_IT.utf8 locale src and binary
PHCO_18127 - SPANISH
PHCO_18128 - SWEDISH
PHCO_18129 - NLS-AUX
also with this patches , if you need them on your system reinstall them with the option reinstall in the sw but if you dont need then you can swremove them .
there are not critical patches .
PHCO_23262 - s700_800 11.X HP AutoRAID Manager cumulative patch
this patches is critical and i will advise you to reinstall it to try to solve the problem .
=============================================
now i will talk about all the patches that is in state of install .
first i will advise you to run :
swconfig \*
to see if it config some of the patches and then send the list of patches that you have steel a problem .
about not be able to config your kernel
it will be a big help if you will send the error message when you are doing mk_kernel

Re: How to remove corrupted & unconfigured S/w.
I will try re-installing it.
But swconfig \* didn't worked at all and same in the case when I tried to remove the patch.
One more thing I would like to add on is, In all our 11.00 m/c we need to install PHKL_18543. But we are not able to install in any of the system, When I see the Installation state It shows just as INSTALLED and not as CONFIGURED. The system is ending with some error stating dld.sl not found (or something like that)
Kindly let me know whether I should take care of something else before installing PHKL_18543, Because the system and kernel building works fine Once on starting this patch installation, It is almost going to a corrupted state.
Thanks,
Gnana A.

Re: How to remove corrupted & unconfigured S/w.
first i will talk about building the kernel .
i know that the error that you are getting is about dld.sl but i need to know what is the exact error that you are getting because this message is very common on problem with patches and kernel .
in most cases i know that installing PKKL_18543 and all his dep. will solve the problem but i cant tell you until you will run the mk_kernel command that will tell me the error .
sometime the download od the dep. patches of patch PHKL_18543 is not install and this can cause a problem .
there isnt a system with hp-ux 11.00 that dont have this patch install on here.
there is the issue of the kernel .
about your patches install on the system i saw that you have a lot of patches not install correctly and i will advise you to do some action on this .
from what i can see on this patches a think that some of the patches can be remove because it seem that you have all the patches that exist for hp-ux 11.00 .
some of the patches are critical and need to be on the system but most of the patches ar'nt
so i m giving you the details of the patches in a file and i m waiting for the error message from the kernel .
remember to run in on /stand/build
command : mk_kernel -s ./system
and send back the error and i will try to solve the problem .
