How to reset serial port?

I am using RP7400 running on HP-UX 11.11, i am wondering does someone know the command to reset the serial port of the server without reboot the server once the serial port was hanged? Thanks.

Re: How to reset serial port?

Shalom,

How do you know the serial port is hung?

Here is some general information on the topic.

I would suggest you see about using SAM.

Re: How to reset serial port?

Because, i have sent the data via the serial port but cannot go through. It happened when i sent out the huge data via the serial port. The problem will be solved if i reset the serial port by reboot the server.

Re: How to reset serial port?

All serial ports are reset when the port is closed. Kill the program that has the port open. Note that sending large amounts of data through the serial port (reliably) requires some sort of handshake, either XON/XOFF or a hardware handshake *PLUS* a timeout handler when the transfer hangs. This requires a program to accomplish.
