How to run "crack" on smbpasswd?

Dear HP-UX/Security Gurus ,

As a security policy , we regularly run "crack" or "john the ripper" etc. for cracking the Unsafe Unix Passwords.
I do not know what tool to use to crack the "Samba Passwords" .
CAn I use "crack" to crack samba passwords ?
Or is there any other public utility available to crack the smbpasswd file ?

Use NT crack which runs also on Unix platforms. It targets smbpasswd-type passwd files.
