How to update firmware on Serviceguard clustered environment?

Hello..

I have a HP-UX 11i v2 + service guard cluster running on two node rx6600 connected to two SAN switches and then to an EVA 6000. I need to update the firmware of RX6600, SAN switches and EVA controllers. Is it OK to update live? please let me know the best practices.

No problem to update the EVA and the switches online (always read the release notes!), but the servers need a downtime (one by one).

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: How to update firmware on Serviceguard clustered environment?

Thanks Torsten,

I am not very confidant with SG part. So the ideal steps would be like;

1. Remode node from SG by cmhaltnode.

2. update the FC HBA firmware

3. reboot the node

4. join the node to the cluster

Please correct me if I am wrong..

 most HBA updates can be performed online, but the servers system firmware must be done offline.

Hope this helps!
