Hello colleagues,
I'm very disappointed because I tried to use the rsync utility (http://rsync.samba.org/) but I wasn't able!
Ok: I use the HP-UX 11.11 and the "remsh" services; no rsh is availale on my machines; I set the RSYNC_RSH variable (export RSYNC_RSH=remsh) then I run the simplest command (tlrt27 is my host):
tlrt27,sys,root # rsync c tlrhcs:tmp/
sh: rsync: Execute permission denied.
rsync: connection unexpectedly closed (0 bytes read so far)
rsync error: error in rsync protocol data stream (code 12) at io.c(150)
Any suggestions??? What have I to do?
thanks a lot!
Enrico

I don't known much about rsync... but the message suggests that the rsync fails to execute on the remote machine (tlrhcs). Did you check the permissions there? Is it executable there?

Re: How to use "rsync" on HP-UX 11i?
Hi Enrico
I think the problem is on the other side, on tlrhcs and not on tlrt27.
If you don't put rsync comman in /usr/bin, rsync/tlrt27 doesn't know how contact the rsync/tlrhcs.
Try the option:
--rsync-path=PATH specify path to rsync on the remote machine
or simply create a symbolic link on tlrhcs to resolve correctly /usr/bin/rsync
Ciao
