How to verfiy Ignite UX
I would like to test my Ignite UX whether it is working properly or not.
I know that we can check it out with OS restoration. But instead of doing this, anyother way to check Ignite UX status.
Thanks & Regards
Shameem.

Re: How to verfiy Ignite UX
you can check it by using the below metion path
/var/opt/ignite/clients/0XLLA/recovery/latest/recovery.log
you can guess it by seeing the time stamp of archives
Actual archives are stored under /var/opt/ignite/recovery/archives/
from the above path you can confirm wheteher the ignite backup completed or not.
================================================================================
For restoration testing you have to do the actual restoration using ignite server or ignite tape.

Re: How to verfiy Ignite UX
Thanks for your reply.
What about below command.
instl_adm -T -D ingniteimage
Output below
=============
#instl_adm -T -D 0x000CFC002A52
WARNING: Dump space (32768000KB) is less than 25% of system memory (200752400KB). There is a high probability that the
system dump will be truncated with a failure to capture important system information in the event of a system
crash. You can increase the size of the dump volumes or add additional dump volumes on the "File System" tab when
using the advanced user interface. See crashconf(1M) for more information.
WARNING: Free space (995928KB) in "/var" where /var/adm/crash is located is less than 25% of system memory (200752400KB).
This will likely result in an inability to capture a single selective compressed dump in the event of a system
crash. Additional space will be required to uncompress the dump in order to analyze it and to save multiple dumps.
You can increase the size of the "/var" volume on the "File System" tab when using the advanced user interface.

Re: How to verfiy Ignite UX
Thanks for your response. We are using ignite server not tape drive.
i tried following command
check_net_recovery -s servername
but it is large output. i think it is not for single ignite image.
We are taking 30 servers ignite image into single ignite server.

Re: How to verfiy Ignite UX
Thanks for your update.
Test the ignite image with restore option is last option for us :)
if any other option is not available then we can go with this.

Shameem.

Re: How to verfiy Ignite UX
If the log says backup is successful without any errors or warnings then you can very much trust the ignite image. We can suspect the image content if it is in tape since the probablity for data corruption due to media issue is always possible.
I don't think any other way other than restoring once on DR or test server.

Re: How to verfiy Ignite UX
The only way to be certain is to practice restore of the OS. Making the tape is not enough.
If you are short of hardware, you local HP performance center might be able to help you run a test with your backup image.

Re: How to verfiy Ignite UX
Hi Shameem,
I want to add further, you can test it with copy_boot_tape command.
copy the boot area on the tape into /tmp
copy_boot_tape -u /dev/rmt/0m -b -d /tmp
It creates a bootimage in /tmp now you can use lifls & lifcp command.
lifls /tmp/bootimage --- lista the boot files.
lifcp /tmp/bootimage:AUTO - ( - is must) it should produce output "hpux(;0):INSTALL"

Re: How to verfiy Ignite UX
You can check ignite backup by following ways also:
1. Check the log generated during the Ignite backup:
/var/opt/ignite/logs/xx
2. Boot from the tape and interrupt the boot process before
non-interactive recovery commences, and then abort the install.
This will verify whether the first image on the tape is bootable.
