how will trusted system slow down the system

I am going to convert my current HP-UX 10.20 into trusted system, anybody knows will it slow down my system? How much more resources will it take up?

Thanks in advance!

Re: how will trusted system slow down the system

Hi,

It will hardly take up any resources. The password file is split up into a file per user, and will take up about 250 bytes per user.

The authentication probably takes a little longer, too, because more files need to be opened and checked.

This 'increase' in resources doesn't lead to a noticable performance drop. You will not see a difference.

Hope this helps,
Rik.

Re: how will trusted system slow down the system

Thank you for quick reply. I have one more question here. If I want to convert my existing system into Trusted system, what should I need to prepare and what kind of security patches should I need to install?

Re: how will trusted system slow down the system

Hi,

Converting system to trusted will not effect the performance, it is my experence. There is no need to take backup or required patches for converting the normal system to trusted system.

Thanks

Re: how will trusted system slow down the system

Hi,

You can safely use 'sam' to convert to a trusted system.
There is no need for specific patches or backup before going to trusted mode and you won't notice any difference as far as performance is concerned.

Best regards,

Dan
