I have an HP 9000/827S system running 10.20. The system clock is losing about 4 mins every day. Is there something that I should do or that I can have done to resolve this?

Re: HP 9000/827S 10.20 losing system clock time
Is this with xntpd running or without? If it is with it running, have you check the validity of the time on the server you are pointing to?

Re: HP 9000/827S 10.20 losing system clock time
It can be possible to lose that much time, but it is not normal.
Each clock is different and will gain or lose.
What you can do is to sync your clock to an NTP standard. Setting up XNTP is easily done from SAM. You must have an NTP time source to sync your machine to.
In an Internet browser, search for NTP and you will find several.

Solution
Hi Glenn,
If the system is not using NTP to sync the time with another server, you could be having a battery problem. The battery should be on the core I/O board. Ask a tech to have a look at that. Another solution is to sync the time on this server using another NTP server. Here is a link from hp docs site on how to configure NTP and to sync the server time with another NTP server.

Hope this helps.
