Solution
Check /var/adm/crash , /etc/shutdownlog , /var/tombstones/ts99 , /var/opt/resmon/log/event.log . If there is nothing related to the reboot , then it is probably because of a power failure occured for a short time .

Hi Anit,
In addition you may also refer to GSP logs if at all it rebooted due to certain problem.
Go to GSP by pressing B on console and after getting the GSP prompt use "SL" command to see system logs.

Re: hp 9000 l class server (rp5430) rebooted
Except for a power failure (see /etc/shutdownlog), HP-UX reboots by itself when the system crashes (in Unix it's called a panic crash). Look in /var/adm/crash for a crash dump. syslog (or any other logile) cannot record information about a system crash because the opsystem has terminated. Files like shutdownlog try to figure out what happened after the reboot. Similarly, the tombstones are saved during reboot. The ts99 file is the last set of hardware conditions and if it shows an HPMC, you've had a hardware failure, probably in the CPU or supporting circuits.
