HP/Apollo 9000 400s
Does anyone know how to obtain or reset the root password for a 400s running Apollo Domain 10.4 OS? I have the OS on 1/4" cartridge tape but have never been able to login as root.
Thanks,
Steve

Re: HP/Apollo 9000 400s
Have you tried the install default: "-apollo-" ?
Robin.

Re: HP/Apollo 9000 400s
Hello Steven,
you may try to boot into "boot_admin" mode by pressing
the "ESC" or the "SPACE" key immediately after
power-on for some time. Then you will have to "search"
("s" should be fine) for bootable devices, and
"single-user" boot the kernel...
I do not remember all the details, but you had to add
a little more information than we use today, but the
screen should show on the right hand side a litst of
"candidates" to be booted, and the kernel was namen
a little different then - all in uppercase and only up to
8 or 9 characters in length, IIRC...
Search the forums for that :-)
In single-user mode you will be able to reset the root
password, then.
HTH,
Wodisch
