Need help fast, can anybody tell me what's going on with my hp server I received the following below:
Feb 4 20:30:48 crsmdp1d syslog: update_broot: Error: command "newfs -F hfs /dev/vgbroot/rlvol1" failed.
PS, the above error was the only thing to come across the monitor. Server is up I just don't know what this means...
Thx

Re: HP-APP-K220 SERVER
it means that something tried to reformat /dev/vgbroot/rlvol1 on 4th of Feb.
from that on, I can only guess.
please read trough Your syslog file and see if there were any more errors, next check root's crontab. going by the name 'vgbroot' it could be a backup of the root volume group vg00 without the means of mirrordisk-ux.
that means maybe someone created a script that does automatich backups of the box and that script failed.
yepp, do a crontab -l and see if anything there sounds like a backup.
also, please tell me what You mean by:
"PS, the above error was the only thing to come across the monitor."
You only get the message and can't log in? Or You only get the message when logged in at the console?
If it's the first, something is broken and You might also consider some bad will to that newfs command.

yesterday I stood at the edge. Today I'm one step ahead.
